Tommy Cordray of Browning, Missouri made his three-and-a-half-hour pull to Lucas Oil Speedway payoff this past Saturday as he came away with his first win of the 2009 race season.  Cordray became the seventeenth different winner this year to claim a ULMA victory in his #5 Tom's Collision Repair and Cordray's Service Station Mastersbilt Mont Carlo by Triple R Engines.  Prior to his win, Cordray's best finish of the year was a fourth-place run, also at Lucas Oil Speedway.  John Fellers posted his best finish of the year by coming away with a solid third-place showing.  Andy Kennedy, Dan Eckoff, Harlen Kennedy, and Toby Ott were also inside the top ten when the feature came to a close at Lucas Oil Speedway.  There were seven member drivers present among the 11 competing drivers.  The speedway's "Countdown to the Crown" weekly championship concludes this Saturday, September 5th.  The race event that was scheduled for September 19th has been removed from the speedway's remaining schedule.  Visit the track's Web site at www.lucasoilspeedway.com for complete information.

Bob King became only the second driver at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) to race his way to victory lane more than once this year when he brought home his second ULMA win last Saturday night.  Twenty-two total cars signed in for competition, 17 of which were ULMA member drivers.  The first eight laps of the feature were fast and furious with multiple-groove racing and a torrid battle for the lead between King and Allen Perryman.  The rest of the race was plagued with caution period until ultimately King claimed the win over second-place David Barker.  Track point leader Jon Binning came away third with Steve Clancy and Dwight Niehoff rounding out the top five.  Bob Test, Walt Imhoff, Randy Ainsworth, Brett Wood, and Danny Lorton completed an all ULMA-member sweep of the top ten.  Late models will make a rare Friday-night appearance this weekend on September 4th when they race during the track's annual late model special, which pays a whopping $1,500 to the winner!  Several drivers have already pre-registered for the event, including last year's ULMA champion, Jason Bodenhamer of Centerview, Missouri.  Same night entries are available for this Friday at CMS, the event has been scheduled since last year and will be a ULMA points-earning event.  Entry fee is $75, which includes the driver's pit pass and race entry; there are NO additional fees for the drivers at the gate!  Check out the event information on the track's official Web site at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.  Late models are not part of the Saturday program at CMS this week because of the Friday special; however, the following week CMS returns to its normal schedule and ULMA and track points will end at CMS on Saturday, September 12th.

Over at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri last Friday evening Kevin Kaiser of Cole Camp claimed the top finish by a ULMA driver when he drove his way to a strong second in the finishing order just ahead of Jefferson City's Bob Test in third.  Jeff Schlup continued to put pressure on Kaiser for the ULMA title and came away in fifth with Danny Lorton seventh, Dave Miller with his best ULMA finish of the year in ninth just ahead of another driver with his best ULMA finish, James Stafford, in tenth.  Seven ULMA member drivers were present of the 19 total drivers competing at the track last week.  There are two events left at Callaway this year, this Friday the 4th and Friday, the 11th of September according to the track's Web site at www.callawayraceways.com

Butler Motor Speedway (BMS) hosted another weekend of action last Friday with only two ULMA members on hand for racing action.  Jon Binning came away inside the top ten in sixth position and added to his overall starts this season.   Randy Ainsworth was not so lucky and finished a disappointing thirteenth at the conclusion of the main event.  There are two weeks left at BMS counting this Friday, September 4th.  For more information point your Web browser to www.butlermotorspeedway.webs.com or on race day call (816) 738-9433.

As ULMA points-earning events continue to wind down, Kevin Kaiser holds a fourteen-point lead over Jeff Schlup in second in the chase for the third ULMA championship.  Robbie Test holds firm in third with Randy Ainsworth fourth.  John Binning has steadily climbed the point's ladder and is now tied for fifth with Kevin Coyne heading into this weekend.  For complete standings, the schedule of events, rules, board member contact information, and general association information visit www.ulmaracing.com.  ULMA is always looking for more support for their drivers, if you are a business looking to get involved in motorsports contact us at your convenience via our Web site.  We are grateful for those businesses that support our form of late model racing!  Planning is underway for the end-of-year Championship Banquet for the association; this year the banquet will be held on Saturday, October 17th in California, Missouri.  ULMA officials will release detailed information in the coming weeks regarding this year's banquet.
