Get ready to “Feel the Steel” of the Advantage Metals Recycling
(Formerly Galamba Group) ULMA Late Models this Sunday, May 4th, at the
historic half mile on the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia,
Missouri. For the first time-ever, ULMA late models will be part of a
race program at the Sedalia track. The event is the annual Bob Ramey,
Sr., Memorial Race, which has become a highly anticipated spring-time
tradition over the last few years. The race program also features WoW
Sprints and Modifieds; this will be the first of two ULMA appearances at
the track this year with the second coming in August during the Missouri
State Fair. Several drivers have never competed on a track this size and
are looking forward to the experience and getting the chance to race at
such an historic venue. Many other drivers have competed at the track on
several occasions, which is sure to guarantee a lot of excitement
throughout the field as the veterans battle the newcomers. The winner
will earn $750 for the win and the feature event pays $150 to start.
Gates open at 3PM, with hot laps rolling off at 5 and racing getting
underway at 6. General admission is $15 with children 10 and under
absolutely free! Pit passes will be $25. Entry fee for ULMA drivers is
$50; all participating drivers must be ULMA members. Association
membership will be available for $50 on the day of the event. All ULMA
cars must pass pre-tech inspection prior to the hot-lap session. The
ULMA wishes to thank Bob Ramey for including the association in this
year’s event honoring his father. The association is grateful for the
opportunity to reach a whole new fan base and is honored to be a part of
this race.
In addition to the Ramey Memorial event, all four ULMA tracks are
scheduled to be in action this coming weekend with Callaway Raceway and
LA Raceway running on Friday night and Central Missouri Speedway and
Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday night. This means there are plenty of
opportunities for ULMA drivers to earn valuable association championship
points all throughout the weekend. Wet and cool weather have allowed
only three official points-earning races to be contested this year with
Matt Menzie, Rylan Long and Jon Binning all scoring early-season
victories. The season point’s leader is Matt Menzie, followed by Rylan
Long, Jason Bodenhamer, J.D. Hubert and Jon Binning.
ULMA announces the following board member change effective immediately.
Tony Wineland moves to Vice President and maintains Technical Inspector
duties. Kevin Kaiser, who is the outgoing Vice President and one of the
original eight board members, has decided to step away from the
association this year to take care of personal commitments. Kaiser
played a vital role in the success of ULMA from the onset of the
association forming. His personal insight, commitment, and genuine
enthusiasm for late model racing as Vice President were crucial in the
association’s affiliation with LA Raceway, obtaining sponsorship and
making decisions concerning rules and regulations. Everyone at ULMA
wishes Kevin the best of luck and hopes to work with him again someday.
For any businesses looking to affiliate with ULMA the timing is perfect
right now as the ULMA official T-shirts will soon be produced. There’s
still time to get your company logo on the back of the official ULMA
shirts. Contact any of the board of directors listed on the
association’s Website at
www.ulmaracing.com or send questions or concerns regarding
association sponsorship via e-mail to
unitedlatemodelassociation@hotmail.com . Membership for the drivers
remains at just $50 this year. Drivers must be ULMA members to
participate in all ULMA special events. Affiliate membership is
available for fans at just $10 via our Website. We look forward to
seeing all the great sponsors, track personnel and race fans throughout
2008. Remember, don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is
a must!
