ULMA Adds Friday Night Venues to Growing
Lineup of Affiliated Tracks and New Sponsors for 2008!
By Sam Stoecklin
WARRENSBURG, MO. (Dec 6) - The United Late Model Association (ULMA)
continues to build its lineup of affiliated tracks for the 2008 season and
is proud to announce that LA Raceway in LaMonte, MO, has become the newest
affiliated track for 2008. In addition to LA Raceway coming onboard, ULMA is
pleased to announce the official return of Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO.
Both tracks run their race programs on Friday nights throughout the spring
and summer months and late model drivers at these tracks will be awarded
points towards the second ULMA Championship in 2008. Already, nearly 50
drivers have signed up to compete for next season’s ULMA Championship!
LA Raceway, a fast, wide and smooth 3/8th-mile track is located in LaMonte,
MO, and is owned and operated by Mike and Carolyn White. The ULMA Late
Models will be the first-ever late model series to compete at the track
during an entire race season on a weekly basis. The raceway is scheduled to
kickoff its season in April. This will not be the first time the cars and
stars of the ULMA will race at the venue though; just after the
point’s-earning season concluded last September, the track hosted the highly
successful first-annual LA Raceway ULMA Missouri State Championships and
ULMA and LA Raceway are both pleased to announce that the special
late-season event will once again return to the track next September. Track
owner Mike White stated, “I am very excited about the decision to add the
ULMA late models and am looking forward to a great year with the
association.” For more information about LA Raceway be sure to check out the
track’s official Website at
www.laraceway.com .
ULMA recently received the exciting news that Callaway Raceway will once
again be an official Friday night points-earning track for next year. Track
owner and operator Betty Atterberry recently contacted the association and
declared that the track would run its late models solely under the ULMA
banner in 2008. Last year, Callaway Raceway was a ULMA point’s-earning track
but ran ULMA late models combined with a regional CRATE late model series.
Ms. Atterberry also recently made the exciting announcement that the weekly
payout purse for late models will be significantly increased for next year
with the weekly late model winner taking home $500! Callaway Raceway, a
quarter mile semi-banked dirt oval, is located near Fulton, MO. Check out
the track’s official Website at
www.callawayraceways.com . Callaway Raceway’s season gets under way in
April. Now, with the return of Callaway Raceway and the addition of LA
Raceway, ULMA drivers have several choices and many weeks of exciting racing
action awaiting them in 2008 with tracks spread over a large geographical
area. Two of the heaviest hitters amongst Saturday night tracks also return
to the ULMA fold for 2008, Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) and
the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks,” the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri
round out the line-up of ULMA weekly tracks.
In more exciting news, ULMA proudly welcomes several contingency sponsors
for 2008. Impact Racing, which specializes in “Motorsport Safety Products,”
has offered up various products for the association to distribute via its
championship contingency points fund at the conclusion of next season. ULMA
member drivers will receive Impact Racing stickers from the association,
which will be displayed on the drivers’ cars in order for them to be
eligible for the contingency prizes. ULMA hopes that this is the start of a
long-lasting relationship with this high-profile and well respected leader
in the racing industry. The company is headquartered at 1650 Northfield
Drive, Bldg A-100 in Brownsburg, IN, 46112, and can be found on the Web at

with ULMA for next season. A local business specializing in “Custom Welding

fabrication items to the contingency prize fund for ULMA members. The
business is owned and operated by Tony Wineland and is located at 702
Buchanan, California, MO, 65018. Mr. Wineland may also be reached via

American Redi-Mix, owned by Randy Good, also comes on board as an Associate
Sponsor for the association in 2008. Mr. Good stated, “I am looking forward
to working with ULMA in 2008.” The company is located at 4950 East Bannister
Rd, Kansas City, MO, 64137 and can be reached via phone at (816) 965-9393.
ULMA thanks all of its new sponsors for their affiliation!
Although ULMA specializes in weekly racing, the association is hard at work
putting together several special events for the coming season and doing its
best to not interfere with weekly affiliated track competition. After a
recent feature article in a major late model publication, which has garnered
truckloads of attention in the racing community and throughout the United
States, the association has been busy answering several calls from various
personnel from within the racing industry. On Saturday, April 19th ULMA
drivers will make their way to Moberly, Missouri’s 24 Raceway for a
$1,000-to-Win, $200-to-Start special feature race event, which will also be
a points-earning race for member drivers. This will mark the first time that
ULMA drivers will compete at the track and ULMA is thankful to add the track
to its growing lineup of affiliated venues. For more information on 24
Raceway be sure to check out the track’s Website at
www.24racewayinmoberly.com .
A mid-season event is set to take place at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS)
on Saturday, June 21st; this event will also be a point’s-earning event. The
second-annual LA Raceway ULMA Missouri State Championships will return to LA
Raceway on Saturday, September 13th, while Lucas Oil Speedway will host the
second-annual Mid-Missouri ULMA Late Model Championships on Saturday October
4th. There are additional special events at other tracks being worked and
details will be announced soon. The official ULMA points-earning season gets
underway at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday, March 29th. Weekly action gets
underway at CMS on Saturday, April 26th. Both Callaway Raceway and LA
Raceway will soon be announcing their official 2008 schedules.
