The United Late Model Association (ULMA) is pleased to announce its first-ever appearance at the fast, wide and smooth LA Raceway in La Monte, Missouri on Saturday, September 15th. The event, being billed as the "Late Model Hustle," will feature ULMA Late Model member drivers competing in a $1,000-to-win 25-lap feature event with 24 cars starting the main event! This fan-friendly race will feature a driver's "Meet & Greet" and autograph session from 5:30 to 6:30 wherein fans can meet their favorite ULMA drivers and take pictures by their cars, which will be on display. A live radio broadcast from the track will also take place during the Meet & Greet session. Two ULMA point provisional starting spots will be awarded to drivers who have accumulated points by the end of the ULMA points-earning season on September 8th. The provisionals will be awarded to drivers highest in the final ULMA standings that are unable to transfer to the main event after the heat races or b-main. All "non-qualifiers" will go home with $50. All participating cars will be "pre-teched" by ULMA-designated technical inspectors and must pass technical inspection prior to the events getting underway. ULMA rules will be strictly enforced; visit www.ulmaracing.com for rules clarification and more information. Pre-tech inspections will start at 4:30. Admission and pit gates will open at 5:00; hot laps will begin at 7:00 with racing action getting underway at 7:30. There will also be a special "Dash for Cash" ran for the heat race winners to determine the first few starting rows of the feature event. Only ULMA member drivers may compete in this special non-ULMA points-earning race. ULMA membership forms are currently available on the ULMA Website or by requesting them from unitedlatemodelassociation@hotmail.com. Prospective members may join the association anytime between now and the day of the event. Membership forms will be available on the day of the event for drivers wishing to join the association, the 2007 ULMA membership fee is just $50. The entry fee will be $25 for all participants in the ULMA Late Model division. Pit passes for everyone entering the pits will be $25. General admission will be adults $10, kids ages 6 to 11 $5, children 5 and under free! Smithville, Missouri driver Brett Rollert once again finds himself at the top of the point standings heading into week 18 of the inaugural chase for the United Late Model Association (ULMA) championship! Rollert had led earlier in the year only to be overtaken by Jason Estes a month ago after a run of bad luck. During competition last week it was Estes who unfortunately ran into a string of bad luck. First, on Friday, August 10th at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri, Estes recorded a "did not finish" (DNF) after mechanical gremlins reared their ugly head while he was running near the front. Then, on Saturday the 11th, Estes was running second at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) and spun after contact with another competitor coming off of turn four, which eventually led to another DNF for the Cameron, Missouri driver. On the other hand, Rollert raced his way to his first feature win of the year at Valley Speedway on Friday and series-leading fifth overall ULMA victory by besting a field of 19 cars. Saturday night Rollert nearly pulled off a double weekend victory, which no driver has yet been able to do this year, when he finished second in the CMS Late Model Special 25-lap feature event. The points lead has now swapped four times between James Rutledge, Estes and Rollert since getting underway in late April. The points-earning season ends on Saturday, September 8th at CMS.

Two southern-based drivers continue to climb their way to the top of the standings heading into this week's racing action. Jeff Schlup of California, Missouri had a strong fifth-place run at CMS on Saturday and has now risen to fourth in the point standings. Schlup has recorded four victories so far this year and normally races at Callaway Raceways and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. Kevin Kaiser also ran strong over the weekend and maintains third place in this week's standings. The Cole Camp, Missouri driver recorded a second-place run at Callaway and a sixth at CMS over the weekend and is now just 28 points behind Rollert; Kaiser is also a frequent competitor at Callaway and Lucas Oil Speedway. Other strong runs over the weekend by ULMA members included Jim Adkins out of Kansas City with a solid third place at Valley Speedway and Kevin Coyne of Kingsville, Missouri, who finished fourth during the 25-lapper at CMS on Saturday. Danny Lorton, Jamie Wineland, Walt Imhoff, and rookie drivers Will McKinney and Brett Wood also posted top tens throughout the weekend while Danny Monroe posted a pair of top tens at Callaway and CMS.

Several member drivers participated in the Sunday night races last weekend at Butler Motor Speedway (BMS) in Butler, Missouri. Although the race was not a ULMA points-earning event, the drivers wanted to show their support to BMS, which recently added late models to their weekly race schedule on Sunday nights. James Rutledge scored the best finish of the ULMA members present with a sixth-place run in the feature event. Kevin Kaiser, Danny Lorton, Kevin Coyne, Jerry Lee Henson, Jamie Wineland and A.L. Barbour also competed. Although it was a long haul for many of the ULMA drivers, all of the participating drivers had a great time competing on the uniquely configured track. Most of the drivers were able to participate in an impromptu autograph session for the many young fans in attendance while the association and drivers James Rutledge and Danny Lorton handed out some free t-shirts. ULMA is currently in talks with BMS and Nevada Speedway in Nevada, Missouri for some "after-season" specials, possibly to be held in September. The ULMA would like to thank to thank the fans and especially the staff at BMS for their hospitality.

Just 14 points-earning races remain over the final four weekends of competition for the 2007 season: CMS-4, Valley-4, Callaway-3, and Lucas Oil-3. For further information about ULMA be sure to visit the association's official Website. All four ULMA-affiliated tracks will be running their regular race programs this weekend. ULMA is a member owned and operated association. ULMA has plenty of t-shirts remaining; find a ULMA track representative to purchase yours today for only $15, proceeds go to the ULMA points fund. Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

ULMA wishes to thank all of its sponsors for the 2007 season. When you visit our great sponsors tell them you heard about them through the ULMA and thank them for their support of dirt-track racing!
