Jason Estes climbs to the Top of the ULMA Leader
Board after Weekend Feature Victory … Kevin Coyne also Finds Victory
Lane!

Warrensburg, MO
July 17, 2007
As expected, the W-K Chevrolet United Late Model Association (ULMA)
championship season has really started to take shape as several members
have amassed 15 starts for the season and are beginning to discard their
poorest points-earning nights. Several more drivers are closing in on
the 15 starts threshold heading into this weekend’s competition. Member
drivers keep their 15 best points-earning nights of the season to count
toward the inaugural ULMA crown. Heading into this weekend, there’s a
new leader atop the point standings sheet as Cameron, Missouri driver
Jason Estes has taken over the lead from Brett Rollert, who relinquishes
the lead, where he had been since mid June. Over the weekend Estes
picked up his third ULMA feature race victory of the year at Valley
Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri. His third triumph of the year places
him in a three-way tie with Rollert and Jeff Schlup for the most feature
wins this year. Estes now leads Rollert by a mere 14 points with his 18
starts, verses 20 starts by Rollert. By virtue of his first feature win,
which came in the make-up feature at Valley Speedway last Friday, Kevin
‘the kid’ Coyne finds himself just 100 points back from Estes in the
third position with 17 starts. Former leader James Rutledge holds strong
in fourth position just six markers back from Coyne with 20 starts while
Danny Lorton continues to climb the chart and now holds down fifth spot
with 16 starts to his credit. Brett Wood of Warrensburg, Missouri
continues to lead the Rookie of the Year standings ahead of A.L. Barbour
of California, Missouri and David Angell of Holden, Missouri. Lorton,
Rollert, Rutledge, Kaiser and Shawn Williams all posted top five runs
during last weekend’s events. A complete rundown of the current point
standings follows this write-up.
This coming weekend three of the four ULMA-affiliated tracks will be in
action; including Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri and Callaway
Raceways in Fulton, Missouri on Friday night July 20th and Central
Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, Missouri on Saturday night, July 21st.
The Friday race at Valley Speedway is a benefit race for Mark Evinger,
promoter of the track who was severely injured in an aircraft accident
last September. This will be a regular track point’s night for Valley
drivers and will also be a ULMA points-earning night; however, drivers
will NOT be competing for track payout as the normal purse money is
going to be put toward a recovery fund for Mr. Evinger as voted
on/approved by the Valley drivers. Pit pass money will be returned upon
request for the drivers at the end of the night. Lucas Oil Speedway in
Wheatland, Missouri, which is having a special event, will not be
running their normal program this weekend due to a special event. There
are currently 16 more possible points-earning nights left before the
season ends September 8th at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway.
