Firecracker Double Duel Showdown this Friday and Saturday for ULMA Late Models!

By Sam Stoecklin, Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
July 5, 2007

The W-K Chevrolet United Late Model Association (ULMA) will host its second duel showdown event this Friday at Callaway Raceway and Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway. James Rutledge was victorious in the first duel showdown earlier in the year at Valley Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway and is expected to be one of the favorites for the second duel showdown as well. Competitors will compete for posted track money at each of the speedways and bonus money put up by the ULMA. The winner will also receive a trophy for his efforts. Drivers who participate in this 2-day event will compete for the title of “ULMA Firecracker Double Duel Showdown Champion.” A separate points-earning scheme will be used to determine the overall weekend point champion. Both events will also be regular ULMA points-earning races. These events are track point's nights for both Callaway Raceway and Lucas Oil Speedway! Callaway Raceway is having their Late Model special ($500 to win, $50 start) plus a large fireworks display. Lucas Oil Speedway will be paying out their “normal” purse. ULMA will be paying out the bonus money and a trophy for the 2-day point champion at the conclusion of the races on night two at Lucas Oil Speedway. The top 5 in points for this 2-day special will earn bonus money using the following payout: 1st $250, 2nd $200, 3rd $175, 4th $125, 5th $100. Only ULMA members are eligible for the posted ULMA money. Special thanks to Tri-Counties Masonry of Holts Summit, Missouri for sponsoring the event.

Last week only Central Missouri Speedway was able to complete its racing program due to the excessive rains that fell in the local area. Jon Binning posted the weekend’s best finish with a solid second-place run. He was followed to the line by Jason Estes in fourth, Brett Rollert in sixth, Jamie Wineland in seventh, Brett Wood eighth, with David Angell also in the top ten in tenth position. For the overall points, Brett Rollert stretched out his overall lead to over 120 points ahead of Rookie of the Year candidate Brett Wood. Rutledge slipped back to third just two behind Wood while Jason Estes moved into fourth. The full overall point standings are included at the end of this press release. Competitors are heading into week 12 of the 2007 campaign. There are several drivers with 15 starts so the overall point standings should be changing with each passing week as the drivers begin to discard their worst finishes. There are a total of 20 more possible points’ nights in the remaining season, which concludes September 8th at Central Missouri Speedway.

All four ULMA-affiliated tracks; Callaway Raceway, Lucas Oil Speedway, Valley Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway are scheduled to run their race programs this weekend. Driver membership fees for 2007 are $50, save time at the track and get signed up today in order to be eligible for money and contingencies from our great sponsors! Membership forms are available on the Website at www.ulmaracing.com or via e-mail request to unitedlatemodelassociation@hotmail.com. Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

The ULMA would like to thank all of its sponsors for the 2007 season. When you visit our great sponsors tell them you heard about them through the ULMA and thank them for their support of dirt-track racing!
