Only One ULMA Track Able to Run Last Weekend Due to Wet Weather!

Warrensburg, MO
June 4, 2007

Just one ULMA-affiliated track was able to open its gates for racing action last weekend as the chase for the association championship entered it's 7th week during a weekend of wet weather conditions.  Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) welcomed a full field of late models for three exciting heat races and a 15-lap feature event.  A total of 22 late models signed in to compete on the high-banked track.  Of the 22 drivers on hand, 17 were ULMA members racing there way towards the inaugural point's championship.

Danny Lorton of Moberly, Missouri, drove to victory in one of the three hotly contested heat races.  Other strong heat race finishes were posted by Chad Frewaldt, Kevin Coyne, Brett Rollert and Jason Estes.  For the main event, the talent-filled lineup of drivers received a big wave of approval from the many fans in the stands as they prepared to set sail for 15 laps of competition.  Of the six ULMA feature events contested at CMS this year, three of them have been caution free with the latest being Saturday night's main event.  The blistering pace set by the drivers was a real treat for late model racing fans with battles for every position taking place throughout the field.  Brett Rollert moved up from his fifth starting position and posted the best finish by a ULMA member driver when he crossed the line in third place.  Rollert now finds himself in third position in the newly updated point standings.  Chad Frewaldt had a strong run to finish fifth in the main event while other top ten runs included Estes in sixth and Lorton seventh.  Current ULMA point's leader James Rutledge finished in eighth spot followed by Jeff Schlup in ninth with Kevin Coyne rounding out the top ten.  The overall point's championship is starting to take shape as several drivers are nearing or have already passed the 10 starts threshold.  Brett Wood, the leading Rookie of the Year candidate has made his way to second in the overall rundown with Rollert now up to third.  Jon Binning holds down fourth just ahead of Chad Frewaldt in fifth.  A complete listing of the current ULMA point standings appears at the end of this press release.

Three of the four ULMA affiliated tracks will roar back into action this coming weekend.  Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri and Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri will open their gates on Friday, June 8th with Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway racing on Saturday night, June 9th.  Lucas Oil Speedway has a special event scheduled for this weekend and will not be running their weekly races.  There are 28 nights of racing still remaining for ULMA member drivers to earn points towards the championship.  Each member driver earns points by keeping their 15 best scored points-earning nights throughout the season wherever they compete, utilizing the association's points-earning scheme.  Membership for drivers to join the association is $50 for the 2007 season.  Affiliate membership for fans is $10; visit the Website for additional membership information and forms.  Late Model drivers must be ULMA members in order to earn ULMA-posted contingency prizes and money at ULMA sanctioned events and tracks.  The next special event on the horizon for the association is the "Firecracker Duel Showdown," which will take place at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.  This will be the second special event for the association and it will be contested on the weekend of July 6th (Callaway Raceway) and 7th (Lucas Oil Speedway).  For more information about the Firecracker Duel Showdown and ULMA bonus money up for grabs be sure to visit the association's official Website at www.ulmaracing.com.  You may also e-mail any questions or concerns you may have by addressing your message to unitedlatemodelassociation@hotmail.com.  ULMA fan merchandise currently available includes hats and t-shirts.  The ULMA shirts have started to arrive and will be available from selected ULMA member drivers for purchase at each of our affiliated tracks.  The hats are embroidered and are pictured on the Website.  Special pricing is in effect for ULMA member drivers and affiliate members.  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

The ULMA would like to thank all of its sponsors for the 2007 season. When you visit our great sponsors tell them you heard about them through the ULMA and thank them for their support of dirt-track racing!
