The W-K Chevrolet United Late Model Association (ULMA) was finally able to begin its inaugural season this past weekend with a total of 16 drivers participating in racing action at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO. Four new drivers joined the association, which brings the total number of drivers competing so far this year to 35 in the association’s very first year of existence! The racing season has yet to kick off at both Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO and Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, MO but will roar to life at those two tracks this weekend where additional drivers are expected to register. The association is looking to add to the already outstanding roster of competitors vying for over $8,000 in prize money and contingency fund awards. A total of 5 rookies are running for the Rookie of the Year title among the current members.

After one week, James Rutledge of California, MO, has a 30 point advantage over A.L. Barbour, one of the rookie of the year candidates at the top of the standings. Chad Frewaldt ranks third, Shawn Williams holds down fourth and Kevin Kaiser rounds at the top five.

All four ULMA affiliated tracks will be in action this weekend; Callaway and Grain Valley on Friday and Lucas Oil and CMS on Saturday. Sam Stoecklin and Kevin Coyne, who are the Valley and CMS track reps, will be available at both Valley and CMS this weekend to sign up additional member drivers and to field questions. The ULMA point’s season goes through September 8th. Member drivers keep their 15 best points-earning nights throughout the season to compete for the championship. After 15 points-earning nights, drivers will drop their lowest point night totals with improved performances. Callaway and Lucas will also have track reps available, look for the ULMA logo banners.

The Memorial Day Weekend ULMA Duel Showdown at Valley and CMS is fast approaching! All non-members will be competing for regular track purses, ULMA member drivers will be competing for bonus money and contingencies added by the association in addition to regular track purse money paid out by both Valley and CMS. See the track reps at either Valley or CMS for more information or visit the official Website at www.ulmaracing.com for an official entry form, full point standings, results and additional ULMA information.
